If you like well made (and free) photoshop brushes, then go to Colorburned to see the latest offering.
I downloaded and installed the spray paint brushes and lost the better part of the last 20 min just making paint strokes. I know, sad isn’t it?
If you have not downloaded brushes before, fear not – it’s really easy. If you download and expand the zip with WinZip or Stuffit (Win or Mac) you only need to install the brush files by putting the .abr file in the correct folder.
So… what is the correct folder?
To Start:
Close Photoshop
Then:
In Windows open My Computer ->C: drive (main hard drive) ->Program Files ->Adobe ->Photoshop CS4 (or your version)
In Mac open the Applications folder ->Adobe Photoshop CS4 (or your version)
Then:
for both Win and Mac…
Open Presets folder ->Brushes and place the file in this folder. Restart Photoshop.
TaDa!
I came across an old quote by Jared Spool of User Interface Engineering.
it reads as follows..
“When we have clients who are thinking about Flash
splash pages, we tell them to go to their local supermarket and
bring a mime with them. Have the mime stand in front of the
supermarket, and, as each customer tries to enter, do a little
show that lasts two minutes, welcoming them to the supermarket
and trying to explain the bread is on aisle six and milk is on
sale today.
“Then stand back and count how many people watch the mime, how
many people get past the mime as quickly as possible, and how
many people punch the mime out.
“That should give you a good idea as to how well their splash
page will be received. That’s the crux of it.”
Now I have no hate on for Flash. I enjoy both using and teaching it – BUT… I am NOT a fan of any “jump through this hoop” feature on a website, and splash pages have been a big one in this category.
This quote is perfect! I have a new geek crush (sorry Deke!).
I tested everything on this site last week and today I’m getting validation errors on things I didn’t touch?
WHA?
Grrrrr
I will deal with this tomorrow.
night all
.. but I think I HAVE to buy it.
A Book Apart – HTML5
By nature, I will spend money on almost anything that Happy Cog thinks is good.
The lovely folks at NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals) have done it again! They are obviously not content to write most of the really good photoshop books, make most of the decent online tutorials, and have (Photoshop World) the best damn convention ever! – because they just came out with the Photoshop CS5 Learning Center. If you are a photoshop fan and have not seen the wonder that is Content Aware Fill or Puppet Warp, check it out!
